Arguably the biggest attraction in town, the Chama, NM train excursions provided by the Cumbres & Toltec railroad offers you the opportunity to tour the landscape in style.


Led by an authentic, renovated 1880s steam locomotive, each car on the excursion will allow you to travel in comfort, as you go zigzagging across the landscape of the Southern Rockies. The railroad is 64 miles in length, making it the longest steam railroad of North America, as well as the highest in elevation.


Each excursion offers a variety of cars for you to travel in, with differing amounts of amenities. The Parlor and Deluxe cars are restored to their original Victorian glory, allowing you an experience that once only the affluent and wealthy enjoyed. There is also an open air gondola that provides unobstructed views for all passengers, no matter your class.
